Fenghuang Ancient Town receives 894,000 tourists during Spring Festival holiday

Fenghuang Ancient Town, a new 5A scenic area, received 894,000 tourists during the 8-day-long Spring Festival holiday, ranking second among the 572 A-level scenic areas in Hunan Province.

During the holiday, the cultural and tourism market in Fenghuang County rapidly heated up, and Fenghuang Ancient Town was highly popular with tourists. An endless of tourists came to Fenghuang County to appreciate beautiful scenery.


 
On February 11, the second day of the first lunar month, Fenghuang Ancient Town ranked first in the predicted list of popular ancient cities (towns) as self-drive destinations in China during the 2024 Spring Festival holiday, and its popularity continued to rise. The occupancy rate of hotels, inns and rural homestay inns around the county reached over 90%.

During the holiday, national, provincial and prefectural level media platforms such as CCTV, People’s Daily and Hunan Daily reported the booming tourism in Fenghuang Ancient Town. The popularity and reputation of Fenghuang Ancient Town continued to increase, and its tourism brand was renowned nationwide.

Fenghuang County organized a series of cultural activities and folk activities like cultural performances, the Miao costume parade and Miao flower drums to welcome the Spring Festival.


 
Various cultural and tourism enterprises launched Spring Festival themed activities, presenting rich and colorful traditional Chinese culture.

For example, the Fenghuang Yangzi Cultural Village carried out folk activities such as Datiehua, or strike iron flower, fireworks shows and bonfire parties, which were highly welcomed by tourists.

The lion dance and boat-launching ceremony at the Tuojiang River were highly praised by tourists.

Folk cultural performances like welcoming drums and the bamboo pole dance were presented to allow tourists to experience the traditional folk customs and strong festive atmosphere.


 
Diverse tourism forms were highly popular. During the holiday, the large-scale performance “Fenghuang Yangzi” had a full house. The maglev sightseeing express train was very popular, with an average of tens of thousands of passengers per day.

The newly created immersive performance “Fenghuang Dengdai” allowed tourists to enjoy the charm of technology and rich Miao culture.

A hot springs hotel launched New Year activities such as lantern making, bonfire carnival and the lawn fireworks display. Hot spring tours became a popular choice for many tourists.

“Fenghuang travel photography” continued to be popular. In Fenghuang Ancient Town, tourists dressed in ethnic costumes took photos in streets and alleys, by the Tuojiang River, and in front of the city walls. Here, tourists can wear Miao clothing, view the beautiful scenery, and appreciate folk customs, and enjoy the unique charm of night Fenghuang.


 
Many tourists chose rural tourism. During the holiday, rural tour and characteristic tourism were favored by tourists. Family tours, self-drive tours and leisure tours became the mainstream.

For instance, Miao village gala, village BA, Miao flower drum and Miao dance were presented in Zhushan Scenic Area. The New Year lion dance, drums beating, ICH bamboo weaving and Miao embroidery experience were carried out in Zhushan Miao Village.

Qiliangdong Pet Park launched the outdoor camping plus pet interaction activity to allow visitors to celebrate the Chinese New Year with pets.

Phoenix China Giant Panda Garden launched a series of Spring Festival themed activities like dragon dance performances, the cute pet parade, and family games, allowing tourists to enjoy the happy holiday with giant pandas.
